An update on the strategies and procedures of enhanced cognitive behaviour therapy for adolescents with eating disorders
Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-E) has shown efficacy in treating adults with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa and has been successfully adapted for use with adolescents with eating disorders. Multiple cohort studies involving adolescents aged between 12 and 19 years have evaluated the effectiveness of CBT-E in younger populations. The promising results from these studies have led the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) to recommend CBT for eating disorders in adolescents.

Obesity and eating disorders: an interactive and complex coexistence
Obesity is the medical condition most frequently observed in people with eating disorders. It often coexists with binge-eating disorder and with some cases of bulimia nervosa, night eating syndrome, and atypical anorexia nervosa. Putative mediators of enhanced cognitive behaviour therapy for adolescents with anorexia nervosa
The effectiveness of enhanced cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT-E) for adolescents with anorexia has been supported by several cohort studies and a non-randomized effectiveness trial comparing this treatment with family-based treatment (FBT). However, although many patients achieve a good outcome, a significant proportion still has residual psychopathology at the end of the CBT-E.
